Rosalie McMillan makes unique handmade contemporary jewellery from unusual re-imagined materials. Her most recent collection combines recycled sterling silver and gold vermeil with a beautiful material derived from coffee grounds.
Her jewellery is striking, asymmetric and angular, inspired by the properties and form of materials she works with. Through reinventing materials into covetable pieces of depth and originality, Rosalie hopes to inspire our own sense of creativity and potential.
Rosalie's new collection features Çurface - a unique material made from recycled coffee grounds collected in London. To make Çurface, coffee is mixed with oils before undergoing a specialised production process using heat and pressure. Çurface has a beautiful surface quality and texture and has surprising strength and durability, with similar properties to a hardwood.
Rosalie was shortlisted for the Observer Sustainable Style Award in 2015 and was recently awarded a place on the Crafts Council's Hothouse 5 Programme.
