Heather Blanchard was born and spent her childhood in the West Midlands. After attending Wolverhampton and Chelsea Schools of Art, she spent her early career as a successful textile designer based in London and also working as a part-time lecturer.
In the 1980's she gave up teaching to concentrate on interior design, exhibition design and hand printed wallpapers, also illustrating several countryside and educational publications. She has been a professional fine art painter for over thirty years and has had many successful exhibitions in Essex, Suffolk, Shropshire, Wales, Cumbria and more recently Scotland.
Heather has a keen sense of composition in her, incorporating finely observed detail with areas of flattened design and simplified pattern. Her work often captures a feeling of reflection or stillness and invites the viewer to remember much loved autumnal walks through the trees, down country lanes and across fields.
