David Cemmick
Part of the New Light Prize Exhibition 2020
A passion for wild places and the creatures that inhabit them has driven David's creativity for the past 40 years. Drawing animals en plein air in Kenya, Madagascar, Jamaica, India and New Zealand has informed his wildlife images and bronze sculptures.
Brought up in the North East of England, he trained in animal anatomy before becoming a professional wildlife artist in 1975. For four years he held the post of Senior Lecturer in Environmental Illustration at the University of Sunderland before re-kindling his freelance career to pursue his passion for sculpture.
