Medium Terracotta Bowl - AB120
Smoke-fired handmade ceramic pot with a terracotta colour glaze | 15cm tall x 16cm dia approximately
This wheel-thrown vessel is fired to 1000 degrees, then glazed and decorated. Using a 'sacrificial' Raku technique, Alan fires his pots for a second time using dried leaves to generate the smoke that reveals the hand-drawn lines on his pieces. Each pattern is uniquely finished by the whim of the smoke, ensuring no two pots are the same.
The terracotta coloured glaze is created by Alan, sourced from local soil where Victorian brickworks once stood.
