Alex Pascual is an artist from Barcelona based in the UK since 2011. He lived in
London for many years and is currently living in Glasgow. He studied Fine Arts at the
University of Barcelona and completed a Master of Artistic Production & Research.
Drawing is a fundamental part of Alex's practice as he mainly focuses on the human figure and sets out to capture the sensuality and roughness that only the human body has. By combining this with ordinary objects his work takes something simple and challenges the reality of it.
Alex's drawings tend to distort and exaggerate scenes from his everyday life. The origin
of this distortion comes from the idea of exaggeration, something that one instinctively wants to highlight. Alex works with coloured pencils on paper, combining energetic and delicate lines with vibrant colours. Colours always help him to build his own narrative which is frequently based on Mediterranean memories.
