Verity Pulford and Pratibha Mistry at The Biscuit Factory
Glass artists Verity Pulford and Pratibha Mistry showcase newly developed work inspired by micro and macro worlds. Their inspirations have allowed fascinating and thought provoking work to be produced, pushing at the boundaries of what is possible with the material.
Verity Pulford’s work is inspired by organic structures- in particular the small details- the shapes and textures of algae, fungi, lichen, moss and ferns. She is also fascinated by the cataloguing of nature- natural history artifacts, early cyanotypes, x-rays, microscopic images of the human body and botanical drawings.
This body of work has been developed since her Arts Council of Wales funded project 'Gardens of the Mind' which began when she was artist in residence at The Walton Neurological Centre in Liverpool.
Pratibha Mistry is an artist fascinated by the contours of human organs and the intricate cellular structures and their workings. Combining her experiences in laboratory research and microscopy, she is particularly interested in applying the uniqueness and versatile properties of glass to convey the sinister beauty of detrimental cellular transformations; and bring to the forefront the complex layers of ‘what lies underneath’
Visit Verity and Pratibha's exhibition in the gallery now until late January 2022.
