Ruth Wilkinson
Part of the New Light Prize Exhibition 2020
Ruth began her art education in the 80's, but it wasn’t until 20 years later that she specialized in mosaic. Having studied the technique in Harrogate and later in Ravenna, Italy, she developed her skills as a mosaic artist over the following years.
Ruth is now based in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire where she works and runs workshops from her home studio. Her work has developed with time and has been expressed in various ways with varying aspects of mosaic creation resonating with her at different times.
Some of the larger public pieces Ruth has been commissioned for include the 50-metre-long mosaic at Robin Hood’s Bay, a large circular mosaic in The Victoria Quarter in Leeds and a commemorative bench on the set of Coronation Street.
