Start your Christmas shopping with our selection of hand-crafted, unique gifts made here in Newcastle upon Tyne, or very close by!

Here we'll introduce you to some of our local independent artists and makers who have crafted beautiful, original pieces that will make perfect gifts for your loved ones.

Kirsty Adams, ceramicist:
Kirsty Adams is a Newcastle-based ceramic artist. She originally trained at Brighton Art College and then on the potters’ wheel in Japan. She has developed a personal approach to throwing on the wheel using porcelain clay, to produce unique pieces for the home.

Kirsty Adams' work is both functional and holds aesthetic meaning, retaining the spontaneity and delicacy intrinsic to making on the potters’ wheel. A Japanese comb tool is used to create and enhance the throwing lines. The high gloss glaze references the porcelain in its wet state, while the bronze, oxide or copper rim detail brings individuality to each piece.

Majid Lavasani, furniture maker:
Majid Lavasani is a skilled bespoke handmade furniture maker. He has worked with wood since 1996 and has used his experience in design, modeling, and classic carving for many varied pieces.

Majid established his own business at Mushroom Works in Ouseburn in 2012, and still produces beautiful furniture and everyday homewares from there.

We're delighted to stock these beautifully crafted pieces, which make wonderful gifts to elevate everyday living, - especially perfect for the food lovers or interiors enthusiasts.

Anthony Marshall, painter:
Joining us for a headline exhibition this winter from 20 November, Anthony has a long history with The Biscuit Factory and a much-favoured artist for his colourful and expressive depictions of his home city, as well as the broader region.

Anthony presents the world from his unique perspective. Drawing his inspiration from the observations of everyday life, his artistic touch is unusual and distinctive, injecting bold colour into everyday scenes. He is well known for his individual rendering of colour where naturalism is substituted for bold exclamations

Anthony's paintings make a beautiful statement gift, especially for those who may wish to celebrate their love of the North East region.

Carol Nunan, printmaker:
Carol is an Irish printmaker, based in Northumberland and one of the founders of Horsley Printmaker's Studios.

Carol's work captures the beauty of Northumberland. In her own words she is inspired by the big skies, wide vistas across land and sea, rich bird life, ancient history, wild and formal gardens. From Northumberland’s monumental Hadrian's Wall to the awe inspiring International Dark Skies, the coastline of Northumbria and the Highlands and Islands off the west coast of Scotland.
