ROOTED: Late Shows at The Biscuit Factory 2024

·
ROOTED; an evening of connection, community and climate hope. Experience our life sized pop up bookshop made up of eco material found in fungus, curated by Forum Books. Surrounded by her headline collection Finding Hope, watch Northern artist Laura Pedley live paint, enjoy portraiture photography exhibition North East Heroes selected by internationally bestselling local author LJ Ross and the opening of LANDMARKS a show of cut plywood paintings by Ellie Gair and Tom Ownsworth.

Listen to folk duo Miggins Fiddle perform original arrangements of traditional tunes and songs from Northumberland and beyond and shop sustainably with a pre-owned clothing pop up REBOURN in our brand new space The Garden Room. Gather and round your night off with locally sourced food and drink at our local inspired supper club.

Mushroom Sculpt Bookshop

Come along to see what we think may be the worlds first fungal book shop!

Threads in the Ground are a climate hope organisation who have been experimenting with an emerging eco-material made from fungus and waste products like straw and paper to make “mycelial blocks”. Combining these blocks and designs by Stuart Macalister of the award-winning architect firm Heatherwick Studios, and housing books curated by The Bound, this installation promises to captivate visitors with its innovative fusion of art, sustainability, and literature.

Laura Pedley - Finding Hope

Inspired by big skies and open spaces Laura paints beautiful abstract landscapes. This - her first large scale solo exhibition at the gallery - is an opportunity for visitors to enjoy a broader selection of these ethereal works presented in her signature dreamlike soft pastel colour palette.

."Encountering beauty in wild, open spaces, where the vast sky stretches to the horizon, has given me sanctuary and peace in stormy seasons. In beautiful places I have found hope again."

Laura will open her exhibition as part of Late Shows with live painting in the gallery showing the process behind her work.

The Factory Kitchen Supper Club

The Biscuit Factory presents our Summer 'Supper Club' event. Expect a four couse menu influenced by the themes of our 2024 Late Shows programme, complete with accompanying selected wines, beers and cocktails.
