In this full day workshop you will be exploring 2D and 3D hand embellishment ideas using combinations of mixed media materials including fabric, paper, metal, found objects and recycled plastic waste.
Your embellishments will inspire you to create an underwater themed tidal pool artwork that could be influenced by corals, seaweed or the movement of waves and water.
Jessica will introduce a range of her unique techniques including; creating your own sequin sheets using waste threads and scraps, beaded and wrapped washers, embellishing embellishments to create additional details for structured surfaces and alternative thread ideas to add texture to your design.
Jessica will also go through ideas for building your surfaces vertically, structuring your 3D design to ensure it is stable, and how to put mixed colours and materials together to create a fun and playful design.
Along with hand embellishments your tidal pool textile will include hand embroidery stitches to add pattern, colour and texture to your design. Your finished tidal pool textile can be used as a sample to inspire your other projects, or it can be framed up as an artwork.
Skill Level: suitable for beginners as well as more experienced stitchers.
