Poems have long been used to mark treasured life rituals; such as the changing of seasons. In Japanese culture, the famed haiku began; a form of short poetry that uses a specific pattern of syllables.
In this workshop Leila will guide you to create Haiku poetry inspired by the changing of seasons from spring to summer.
You do not need any experience writing poetry, or any other writing.
We suggest that you bring your own notepad or paper so that you can continue practicing your poetry after the class.

Leila Hussein is an internationally published poet and writer, based in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her poetry has been performed regularly in North East locations, including The Cluny and local radio; as poet in residence. Her writing is award nominated and she has gained a book deal early into her career. Leila has been included in journals by award winning editors throughout England. She is a trained creative facilitator with New Writing North and has been commissioned by members of parliament to create bespoke poetry.
