During this full-day workshop, textile artist Donna Cheshire will guide you through her process of creating textile artworks from abstract compositions:
In the morning, inspired by photographs and secondary sources such as images from websites or magazines, you will create exciting landscape imagery using various expressive techniques such as collaging, gestural mark making and painting with a wide range of implements.
You will develop a particular mood in the work, trying to capture the emotional and physical responses to the chosen landscape through composition and processes used.
In the afternoon, you will select imagery from your experiments and develop these into an abstract textile piece, using appliqué, stitch and mixed media.
If you have drawings or photographs of a favourite landscape you might want to bring these along, otherwise Donna will have lots of resources to get you started.
It could get messy so please bring an apron!
All other materials and equipment will be provided for you on the day.
