The Late Shows returns for 2026 with two nights of art, culture and creativity across Newcastle and Gateshead. On Friday Ouseburn kicks off the weekend with a host of venues opening their doors across the evening.

With a nod to folk traditions, gather for an evening of art, music and words; celebrating storytelling, the land and communal experience.
Taking inspiration from the quiet still lives featured in headline artist Jo Sharpe’s exhibition Still/Life, join the artist for wildflower slow sketching.
Mercury Music Prize nominated singer and songwriter, novelist and artist Kathryn Williams launches a collection of miniature portraits and will sing from her back catalogue, with Maximo Park’s Paul Smith easing people into the evening with a folk adjacent DJ set, spoken word from Door to Door Poet Rowan McCabe and acoustic performances from Northumberland duo Miggins Fiddle across the night.
Newcastle film club will be screening shorts from local filmmakers and we’ll have new story recommendations from The Book Hus. Slow down with craft beers, natural wines and local food in The Factory Kitchen with a burger menu from 6pm-8.30pm.
