‘Where The Light Falls’ is a new collection of expressive landscape oil paintings by Hester Berry, rooted in reverence and close observation of the rural environments she knows best.
At its heart, this exhibition is both a celebration of the natural world and a gentle reminder to cherish and protect it – an invitation to slow down and notice the changing seasons and subtle shifts of light. Each work seeks to accurately represent a moment, distilled down to its essentials through bold, economical mark-making. Squinting, bleary-eyed, against the sun. A brief moment of joy and clarity. A heightened awareness of place.
Hester trained at Aberystwyth University before completing an MA in Fine Art at Wimbledon, and was shortlisted for Sky Landscape Artist of the Year in both 2014 and 2015. Alongside her studio practice, Hester teaches portrait and landscape painting around the South West of England.
