Still Life Drawing & Art History 6 week course



Date: 6 week course - every Wednesday from 19 October up to and including 30 November

Join artist Mick Smith & Art Historian Aly Smith for a 6 week course that develops observational skills through the study of still life. Suitable for all levels, we will learn basic drawing techniques whilst looking at the history of the still life and the artists who celebrated it.

Each week we will be introducing a different subject matter to draw.

In these sessions you will be using pencil, charcoal and pastel to create still life drawings to take home. Basic materials provided.

This small, friendly class is aimed at all abilities and will run from 19th October until  30th November on Wednesday mornings.

Skill Level - Designed for all levels of drawing experience.

Recommended: wear an apron or old clothes.


Aly Smith & Mick Smith

Aly & Mick are North-East based artists working in the Biscuit Box Studios. They have over 15 years experience of delivering art workshops across a variety of disciplines for all ages and levels.  Mick specialises in landscapes (often influenced by 17th century Dutch Artists) industrial still life and sculpture. He has recently been involved in ‘The Cabinet of Souls’ project where he produced large paintings to acknowledge the industrial heritage of the North. A discount voucher for use in The Factory Kitchen café will be provided for all workshop participants.

All participants will receive an emailed booking confirmation and a reminder email close to the event.

Payment is required upon booking. Cancellations made up to 2 weeks prior to the workshop date are eligible for a full refund. 

Participants are encouraged to arrive around 10-15 minutes ahead of their workshop.

There is parking on site and we have 2 free overflow car parks on Bermondsey Street and opposite at The Holy Biscuit.
