Little Biscuits Creative Workshops
About
With sessions led by professional art teachers and practising artists, Little Biscuits gives your youngsters, aged 7-13 the chance to take part in their very own artist-led workshop.
Dates: Various throughout Easter Half Term
Times: 1pm - 4pm
Location: The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle
Hosted by: Sally Lingard
This Easter break the children’s art workshop will explore the theme of Bugs and Insects. This workshop is completed in one day with two activities: relief printing and batik.
The relief printing is a safe child friendly process involving polystyrene rather than lino.
Batik involves applying hot wax to cotton creating a drawing on to fabric with painted dyes.
Pop Art Portraits:
Inspired by the Pop Art artist Andy Warhol create a collection of prints of your favourite famous person. Using the same technique of Lino printing this is a child friendly method using a pen and polystyrene.
Textile Collage Portraits:
Inspired by the embroidery artist Inge Jacobsen and Graham Dolphin, create a magazine cover using different techniques and artist materials. Let your imagination create a surreal portrait using hand stitching, paper and felt.
Parent/Grandparents/Carers can enjoy three hours of child free time whilst the children are left creating their artwork. Both pieces can be framed for family gifts or hung in their bedrooms.
About the artist: Sally has been teaching Art and Textiles for over ten years in both middle and secondary schools. The workshops are in the holidays and provide fun creative activities that children may not have experienced at school before.
