Botanical Embroidery Workshop // Saturday 15 June
Time: 1.00 - 4.00pm
Location: The Biscuit Factory Gallery
Hosted by: Lucy Freeman
Lucy will teach you contemporary embroidery techniques used specifically for hoop art - an easy to learn, quick and experimental way to embroider.
We'll cover the whole process from designing, stitching and how to finish hoops neatly to be hung on the wall. Expect lots of gorgeous botanical imagery to draw from and plenty of finished embroidery pieces to look through for inspiration!
This special extended workshop will offer extra time and space for Lucy to help you personally, whether you're a complete beginner or have had sewing experience before, she will be on hand to advise and leave you confident to embroider independently at home.
Ticket includes all sewing materials, hoops, fabric, and imagery stencils. You'll also be given a tips and tricks handout with all the info you need to keep embroidering at home afterwards!
Lucy set up her own business in 2016 during her final year of university at Leeds Arts University studying Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design. Since then she has exhibited regularly at print fairs, shops and festivals across the UK. Handcrafting is at the heart of all Lucy does, often working personally with clients to design bespoke pieces.
Alongside her own art, Lucy teaches embroidery workshops around the UK, introducing people to contemporary stitching techniques for hoop art, a quicker, experimental and easy to learn embroidery style.
A discount voucher for use in The Factory Kitchen café will be provided for all workshop participants.
All participants will receive an emailed booking confirmation and a reminder email close to the event.
Payment is required upon booking. Cancellations made up to 2 weeks prior to the workshop date are eligible for a full refund.
