About

The beginners pottery course is back!
During this four week course you’ll begin to develop your skills in pottery starting with hand building with slabs.

Week 1: We will look at cylindrical shapes and how to make, alter and decorate them. These could be dog bowls, mugs, Brie bakers, or even salt pigs!

Week 2/3: We will bring in a potters wheel to try your hand at throwing. While you’re taking turns throwing, we will go through some different making techniques such as pinch pot shapes to be made into garden or plant pot ornaments as well as decorating techniques like sgraffito, brush work and slip trailing. We will have prepared greenware for you to practise on.

Week 4: The final week will be glazing week. We will have underglazes and brush on glazes and we will show you various techniques.

Around 2 weeks after the course has finished, we will drop your pots back off at The Biscuit Factory ready for you to pick up.

But they don't just make pots - they also run adult night classes, workshops and Raku sessions, build bread ovens, design and make tipi fire pits, create sculptures, murals, and do pit firing!
