Stuart’s paintings are representational, with figures set in richly textured, colourful oil landscapes. They depict images of figures, usually imagined and anonymous, in ambiguous painterly landscapes. He hopes to produce a positive response in the viewer, be it a smile or the triggering of a personal recollection, via strangely familiar scenes, reminiscent of inner memories.
