Steven Lindsay studied Fine Art at the Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1986. Steven has quickly established a successful and acclaimed career as a figurative painter exhibiting across the UK and internationally. The craft of what Steven does; sketching, transferring to canvas, layering the oils, allowing the paint to dry seems as important to him as the finished product. He insists on working from life and describes how photographs can help with aspects such as light but the human eye can see so much more.
Steven is fascinated with the notion that people feel insecure and unsettled in the modern world and his nude figures, many of them wearing gas masks, seek to show that sense of vulnerability.
