Masterclass in Hand Embroidery with Lucy Freeman
Time: 10.30am - 2pm
Location: The Biscuit Factory Gallery
Hosted by: Lucy Freeman
Join textile artist Lucy Freeman for a masterclass in hand embroidery. You’ll learn her four easy stitches and how to use them to create beautiful floral imagery in an expressive style.
Lucy will teach you everything from the basics of threading a needle to how to create realistic shading and forms, sharing her tips and tricks for achieving intricate and beautiful results with the simplest methods.
Ticket includes all the materials: fabric, threads, floral design stencils, an embroidery hoop and needle, as well as instructional sheets and access to video tutorials so you can continue to learn more after the workshop. You get to keep all these materials to take home and finish your embroidery.
This special extended masterclass will offer extra time and space for Lucy to help you personally, whether you're a complete beginner or have had sewing experience before, she will be on hand to advise and leave you confident to embroider independently at home.
Lucy taught herself freestyle embroidery after struggling with the traditional techniques which felt too restrictive. She developed her own stitches and methods which are quick, expressive and easy to pick up, and has been teaching this new painterly style of embroidery at workshops and through kits across the UK for the last three years.
