Beginners Pottery Course // January 2020
Dates: 10, 17, 24 & 31 January
Time: 10.00am - 12.00pm
Location: The Biscuit Factory Gallery
Hosted by: Muddy Fingers Pottery
In the first week we will look at cylindrical shapes and how to make, alter and decorate them. These could be dog bowls, mugs, Brie bakers, or even salt pigs!
Week two and three we will bring in a potters wheel to try your hand at throwing. While you’re taking turns throwing, we will go through some different making and decorating techniques.
In Week two we will explore pinch pot shapes to be made into garden or plant pot ornaments, maybe some pinch pot succulent dishes.
Week two will focus on decorating techniques using slips. Sgraffito, brush work and slip trailing. We will have prepared greenware for you to practise on.
Then the final week is glazing week. We will have underglazes and brush on glazes and we will show you various techniques.
Around 2 weeks after the course has finished, we will drop your pots back off at The Biscuit Factory ready for you to pick up.
