Naomi James is a Brighton based jeweller who has been making jewellery pieces since she was fourteen years old. Many of Naomi's designs use leaves, plants and feathers to imprint natural textures on to silver giving her work a 'found' quality - almost as if the pieces were produced by a natural process.
Naomi explores new ideas through playing with metal - first texturing with embossing and hammering, then folding and bending to create forms derived from nature, particularly seeds and plants.
She likes to use the contrasting textures of different plants which when combined in one piece of jewellery are complimented with touches of 18 carat gold and coloured semi-precious stones.
It is of great importance to Naomi that her jewellery is made by hand. She uses no casting or machine work and none of her jewellery is mass produced, making each piece unique.
