Kate McLaughlin Jewellery is handmade in Perth, Scotland. Using traditional techniques Kate creates geometric pieces in sterling silver, and is always searching for beauty in simplicity.
The Tail Fin collection is based on 3D forms inspired by a found object from Tentsmuir beach in Fife, Scotland. As well as the local landscape Kate also uses her architectural background to inform the 3d, sculptural forms that she creates. Similar to her architectural process, designs are often explored through test pieces and models in card and copper before being made in silver. Each piece then begins with silver sheet or wire and is formed using hand tools.
