Judith Appleby
Judith is a Newcastle-based artist working from her studio in BBox.
From a background in architecture, education and research, Judith has an academic approach to painting - combining a range of artistic influences, with a personal, sometimes formalised, interpretation of landscape and man-made structures. Her Lindisfarne Castle and Farne Islands Rock studies have become a recognisable individual style of strong geometries, sometimes art deco-influenced patterns integrating natural and built form.
Judith's recent work has been inspired by industrial quaysides. An aerial view is translated to a semi-abstract interpretation of a landscape of cranes and containers.
