Andrew Morris
Part of the New Light Prize Exhibition 2020
Andrew Morris trained at Harrogate College of Art between 1983 and 1986 and went on to study illustration at Brighton University.
After graduating, Andrew worked as a commercial artist for over 15 years. He worked in most fields of illustration including advertising, design and publishing. In 2003, Andrew began teaching art and design to 16 to 18-year-olds. Alongside his commercial and teaching career, Andrew has continued to develop his personal work.
Using the experience gained over 30 years as an artist and educator, Andrew’s work is firmly rooted in the traditional techniques of observational drawing and painting. He is primarily interested in how light and colour evoke a time and place.
