The Biscuit Factory Art Prize

Published 21 September 2026

In association with Parker Harris and sponsored by Ward Hadaway, The Biscuit Factory Art Prize is a new annual open call exhibition celebrating ambitious, original and thought-provoking work by emergent and established artists and makers, based in the UK and internationally, working across a wide range of contemporary disciplines.

Selected by a panel of industry professionals, the prize will showcase over 100 artists and up to 150 shortlisted works, exhibited at The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle upon Tyne, from 26 February to 25 April 2027, and supported by a public curated cultural programme.

The prize creates a new platform for artistic excellence, creating a distinctive addition to the arts market in the North of England while encouraging a dialogue between artists, creative practitioners, professional organisations and audiences. Founded on the belief that artists play a vital role in shaping how we understand the world around us and that art should be accessible, the prize will create meaningful opportunities for arts engagement, appreciation and development for artists, collectors and visitors alike.

Judges

Submissions will be assessed on artistic quality, originality, craftsmanship, ambition and the ability of the work to generate meaningful ideas or conversations. There is no set theme, and the selection process will be led by The Biscuit Factory curatorial team and independent guest panel selectors: Art Advisor Julia Bell, RSA printmaker and sculptor Ade Adesina and Curator, Arts editor and writer Rebecca Morrill.
