Born in 1957, Rob van Hoek is a Dutch painter who has worked as a professional artist since 1993. His work has been exhibited widely across Europe. His practice centres on the cultivated landscape, focusing on fields, trees, roads and rural architecture. Through an emphasis on pattern, rhythm and simplified forms, he creates compositions that balance flatness and depth, often with a subtle, naïve character. Built up through multiple layers of gesso-like paint, his surfaces carry a textured quality that enhances the structured, atmospheric nature of his work.
