Raquel Alvarez Sardina is a Spanish-born painter from Barcelona, now based in the Cotswolds, UK. She studied Fine Arts in Barcelona and later completed a Master’s degree at Cardiff University. Her work is influenced by the tenebrism of the Baroque period, developing into a contemporary style focused on still life, particularly fruit and natural forms. Through careful composition and a slow, precise painting process, she creates quiet, contemplative works that explore light, emotion and the fragile beauty of everyday subjects. Raquel’s paintings have been exhibited internationally, and in 2016 she was elected a member of the Society of Women Artists, receiving the President and Vice Presidents’ Choice Award at the Mall Galleries in London.
