Mike Pinkney is a printmaker based in the North East of England. He studied at Middlesex Polytechnic in London and worked for many years as a graphic designer in studios in Soho and Chelsea before returning to the North East, where he later lectured in the School of Design at Northumbria University. Alongside his work in design and education, he has developed a sustained printmaking practice. His screenprints use bold colour and simplified compositions to reframe familiar and often overlooked scenes, embracing the unpredictability of the medium and the dynamic relationships between colour and form.
