Born in 1959, James ‘Jim’ Roderick Moir, also known as Vic Reeves, is an English artist and comedian. After studying at Sir John Cass Art School in London, he became widely known for his surreal comedy work with Bob Mortimer, while continuing to pursue painting as a central part of his practice. His artwork focuses on wildlife, particularly birds, combining careful observation with a distinctive, playful and eccentric style. Moir’s paintings have been exhibited at major institutions including the Saatchi Gallery and the Royal Academy. He continues to develop his artistic practice alongside his television work, notably through the series Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy, which explores his passion for nature and painting from life.
