Jay Caskie is a printmaker working primarily in wood engraving. Inspired by the vastness of the Canadian landscapes where he grew up, and the rugged beauty of the Cornish coastline where he lives now, he creates intricately detailed landscapes that explore themes of place, solitude, and connection to the natural world. He received his BFA from NSCAD University in Halifax, Canada in 2019 and moved to the UK in 2020. Now based in Cornwall, he works from his studio in Redruth, exhibiting regularly in shows across the UK and internationally, including the Society of Wood Engravers Annual Exhibitions, the RWA Annual Open Exhibition 2025, and the annual Great Print exhibitions. Recently elected as a member of the Society of Wood Engravers, Jay is passionate about the art of wood engraving and promoting traditional printmaking techniques.
