Born in 1961 in Corbridge, Northumberland, Christopher Knox is an artist known for his chiaroscuro landscapes and cityscapes. Drawing inspiration from the dramatic Northumberland coastline and atmospheric weather, he works from early sketches made on location, which he develops into large graphite drawings in his studio. His influences include Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen, J.M.W. Turner, John Constable and Norman Ackroyd. Christopher is an elected member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art, and his work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2013 and 2015), the Royal Society of British Artists’ Annual Show (2012–2014, 2016), The Pastel Society Annual Exhibition (2014), and The Original Print Show curated by Norman Ackroyd (2015, Zillah Bell Gallery).
