Carol Saunderson was born into a farming family in East Anglia. For over 30 years, her work as a painter has remained strongly connected to the land and its creatures. Walking in the landscape around her Suffolk home provides the inspiration for her paintings, focusing on atmosphere rather than specific scenes. With an emphasis on colour, light and composition, her semi-abstract works record moments of thought and experience. Many are also of a narrative nature and each image is like a stage set or a window, within which the characters materialise and live their lives.
During her career, her work has been exhibited at galleries around the UK. It has been reproduced as greetings cards and prints and appeared in magazines.
