The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle offers a variety of art buying services.

Whether you’re a seasoned collector, making your first purchase of original art, seeking a special gift, or sourcing pieces for a client or project; our team of experienced consultants is here to help.

Our art gallery is open seven days a week, and you are welcome to browse at your leisure any time, however for those who prefer a more personal experience, or help to make their final decisions, we offer the following services.

In-gallery consultations

Book a consultation with one of our gallery team – they’ll chat with you about your preferences, any past purchases or other artworks you own, and talk you through options from our collections and cohort of artists.

Aside from on-the-wall pieces, our team has access to new and archive work directly from artists, and can facilitate commissions for a truly bespoke touch.

Gallery consultations are £35 for up to two hours with one of our team members.

Home Approvals

Sometimes you need to see artwork in your home before you’re certain. Home Approval provides this option, and we offer two services:

Home Approval with Deposit

Try a piece in your home for up to 7 days when you leave a 50% security deposit against the artwork. If it’s not right, return it to the gallery and receive your deposit refund. If it’s the one, let us know and we’ll make payment arrangements, whether that’s a simple card payment for the balance, or moving the full purchase to another Own Art arrangement.

Consultant Home Approval

Best for several pieces, or very large items that require special transportation. This is an appointment-led service with one of our senior sales consultants who will bring selected artwork to your home for you to see in-situ. Available in selected NE, DH and SR postcodes.

A £150 fee secures your appointment for up to 4 hours (including travel), which is deducted from any purchases made.

Commissioning

Commissioning gives you the opportunity to purchase a truly special piece of art, created exclusively for you. Commissions involve choosing an artist whose existing work you particularly enjoy, and agreeing an original piece that is painted for you but reflects their existing portfolio. 

Perhaps you saw a piece that is no longer available to buy, or there’s a particular landmark or memory you would like recreated in that artist’s style. For more abstract pieces, there may be a particular colour scheme that you have in mind to better fit your home décor. 

Our experienced consultants will guide you through the process, liaise with the artist, and deliver bespoke artwork that honours the craftsmanship of the maker, and the distinction of the collector. 

Commission consultations are free of charge. A 5% arrangement and administration fee is added to artwork cost.

Other buying options

Online / Remote Purchasing

A selection of artwork from our gallery collections is available to purchase directly online. If you can’t see what you’re looking for please contact the team at art@thebiscuitfactory.com or on 0191 261 1103 (option 1). Because we work with a large cohort of artists, it’s not possible for us to showcase everything on our website all the time, but that does not mean it is not available.

We’re facilitating ‘remote’ purchases every day, and the team are always happy to advise on availability of work, make bespoke shipping arrangements, and supply secure payment links or finance applications so that you can secure the artwork you love wherever you are.

Finance

Finance is available for purchases of original art, furniture and jewellery of £250 or more, with Own Art. You can find out more about Own Art here.

Gift Accounts

Allow all your loved ones to express their affection with the shared generosity of a gift account for your milestone occasion. A considered alternative to gifting for weddings, birthdays, retirements, home purchases and more; gift accounts allow your friends and family to make contributions that you convert into a Gift Voucher to spend on art you love.
