The Biscuit Factory works with a range of creative partners and supports a range of creative projects.
The Biscuit Factory Foundation is a charity which aims to nurture and develop the practice and appreciation of the visual arts in the North East of England through an egaging and varied programme of creative opportunities.
Housed in a specially refurbished Methodist Church, Holy Biscuit is a neighbouring arts organisation based in Shieldfield, Newcastle upon Tyne. The refurbishment of the building into a gallery and community arts space was provided by The Biscuit Factory in 2010, and the Holy Biscuit was born.
Holy Biscuit operates on the intersection of contemporary art, theology and community activity. Holy Biscuit builds on the rich heritage of Methodism in the North East, by committing to social activism, creativity and theological reflection. Through their diverse programme they examine and wrestle with faith along with other social, political and cultural strands and themes and seek to live out their values by creating a hub of transformational creativity and a place of welcome, contemplation and discussion. They seek to nurture an active and credible Christian presence within the arts by curatig and supporting an engaging, high quality and challenging programme of exhibition, workshops, meals, events, screenings, faith activities and discussions.
The Biscuit Factory Creative Partners
The Biscuit Factory is thrilled to be working with a range of partners, to support and showcase the work of artist and designer-makers from across the North East and beyond. Our current partners include:
In autumn 2015, we launched a new partnership with National Glass Centre in Sunderland to support the work of local glass artists and champion the heritage of glass making in the North East.
We have dedicated space on the ground floor of our gallery showcasing beautiful glassware produced by National Glass Centre’s hot glass studio team, and in the coming months, visitors and clients to both venues will have the opportunity to receive exclusive access to experiences, events and exhibitions.
Our collaboration with Craft Scotland, which officially launched in winter 2015, aims to place a spotlight upon the unique and exciting works of designer-makers who live and work in Scotland.
From jewellery and scarves to cushions and other decorative homewares - our Craft Scotland exhibition space promises to bring an inspirational twist to your gallery experience.
We will be showcasing a ranger of designer-makers including...
In autumn 2016, The Biscuit Factory teamed up with Corbridge-based Forum Books to launch a mini pop-up bookshop; a unique collaboration within the UK. The Book Hus can be found within our ground floor SHOP and stocks as many as 100 eclectic titles at any given time. Curated by Forum Books on an ongoing basis, the selection encompasses art, design, food, travel and fiction, plus a handpicked selection of titles about the North East.
