Biography
Graham Hunt is a Newcastle-based fine art photographer who works exclusively in black and white. He works with film-based cameras and uses no digital manipulation on his images; he is more interested in the ‘photographer’s eye‘, relying on his ability to judge the quality of a potential shot himself.
He is currently working mainly on a series of landscapes and cityscapes. For his cityscapes he takes handheld shots of Newcastle at nightfall. He aims to produce dark, grainy photographs which capture a different side of the city, avoiding easily recognisable views in favour of images which are ambiguous and unusual.
In contrast, his landscapes aim to create a sense of stillness and calm, and of escape from the modern world.
These images have been scanned from the negatives and produced on fibre-based art paper.
