Biography
Sue graduated in 2004 from Sunderland University with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art.
She is passionate about art and its potential to express emotion, feelings or words.
Art allows her to address issues that impact daily life. Sue is a farmer's daughter, brought up on a large dairy farm, and has lived in the country all her life therefore her art is a reflection of this rural ethos. Her concerns involve the landscape, the future of farming, and the sustaining of food production in this country. She does not want her work to be judge or jury, but wants to make sense of her personal experiences and her love of this art, with an honest and open portrayal of what farming is about for her.
“I experiment with media, in terms of using materials from the farm and to incorporate through this media my sentiments and feelings about farming. I want to bring the farm to the unfamiliar, to those who want to know the truth, and to those who support a sustainable rural economy.”
