Biography
Born in 1969 into a family of architects, Alexey spent his childhood in Prague. This medieval city has fascinated him ever since. He graduated from Moscow Architectural Institute while working full-time as an artist.
Alexey has exhibited throughout Europe and America. He now lives and works in Prague and Moscow. Alexey’s architectural training is palpable in his work. His sense of harmony, his structure, his discipline all voice it abroad. The defining characteristic of his work, however, is an intellectualism grounded in deep introspection and wide reading. His paintings pose questions and highlight observations.
In 1999, Alexey worked as a set designer and backdrop artist for the Ballet ‘Capriccio’ by Igor Stravinksy at the Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow and at the Theatre Festival in Prague in 2002.
