Gin Durham is a designer-maker who established her ceramic practice in 2011, after working previously as a graphic designer and project manager.  Gin has exhibited widely across the UK and has been featured in various publications, including Vogue Magazine in 2012.

The inspiration for this new body of work stems from traditions of folklore and fairy stories. Since she can remember, Gin has been fascinated by stories and how they have endured the test of time, repeated by generations. Clay is a wonderfully expressive material and Gin belives that it lends itself perfectly to explore the emotional connections with storytelling.

All of Gin's sculptures are individually hand built in porcelain or stoneware, incorporating textile impressed elements and finished with precious metals. Each piece is informed by the rich historical value of the ceramic figurine combined with the lace surface finish to enhance ideas of tradition with a contemporary twist of humour.
