Cassia Beck is a photographer based in Brighton.
"I have pursued photography as a hobby since 2006 when I purchased my first film camera, the Holga. The resulting images from this camera with the vignetting, light leaks and blur have inspired me ever since.
Currently I work with a Kodak Duaflex and a digital camera together, creating pieces of work that are full of imperfections including dust and scratches which add to the nostalgic element of my subjects.
I use objects as props and create unrealistic scenes; “giant” toys against vintage fabrics, butterflies flying in formation. The Magnolia Tree which reminds me of spring and warmth becomes dark and dominates in the style of a fairytale.
I am fascinated by old photographs and the stories they tell, I hope to inspire others with my perspective and the stories I tell."
